Youth Spotlight: Evan

Since joining the Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) program a year ago, Evan has had the desire and determination to learn and grow. Working with his Certified Peer Specialist, he has honed his video editing skills, found employment, and most importantly, made new friends with similar interests. From day one, Evan participated in many CPS group events before even having his first one-on-one session! For someone like Evan with autism, this is a huge deal. He was so determined to meet peers in the program with similar interests that he was able to step out of his comfort zone with ease.

Over the past year, Evan has made several new friends and currently babysits for his neighbors 3-4 times a week. While he is still working on his video editing skills, he is continuing to set even more goals for himself. Just recently, he has decided to try out for his school’s winter musical! Evan also loves voice acting, animation, and starting different collections. He continues to find new and unique ways to pursue his goals and interests, while also advocating for himself when it comes to his social and emotional needs.

For Evan’s Certified Peer Specialist, it has truly been an honor and privilege to witness and be a part of Evan’s continual growth and development.
