Spotlight: Natalia

When Kristina Velasco joined forces with Natalia through Valley Youth House’s Youth & Young Adult Certified Peer Specialist program (YYA-CPS), it ignited a spark of determination within Natalia. While working with Kristina, Natalia truly began to envision the heights she could reach. Together, they set lofty aspirations: exploring new horizons, forging new friendships, cultivating confidence, and pursuing employment.

Throughout their sessions, Kristina witnessed Natalia’s commitment to her dreams. They celebrated victories, like diving into experiences such as the Allentown Fair, enjoying local theater performances, and embracing adventures at Urban Air. Kristina beamed with pride as Natalia stepped onto the stage at the Allentown Fair, her courage shining brightly as she assisted a magician.

Natalia’s passion for performance arts, particularly singing and acting, fueled her eagerness to engage with the local theater scene. With Kristina’s guidance, she explored opportunities at Touchstone Theatre, reigniting her love for the stage. Empowered by Kristina’s support and trust, Natalia flourished, relishing the freedom to shape their sessions with laughter, snacks, and heartfelt conversations.

With newfound confidence, Natalia dared to find employment, impressing even herself during a spontaneous job interview. Kristina’s mentorship extended beyond the sessions, fostering financial responsibility and independence through practical guidance on managing finances.

But Natalia’s journey wasn’t solely about external achievements. Embracing her religious faith and prioritizing self-care became pillars of her personal growth. By nurturing her spiritual connection and practicing self-love, Natalia fostered healthier relationships and bolstered her mental well-being. United by a profound professional bond, Kristina and Natalia are unstoppable allies on the path to independence. Together, they continue to chart a course toward Natalia’s aspirations, empowered by the belief that no dream is too big to achieve.
