You may remember Amelia’s story from our 2022-2023 Annual Report, and since then, she has continued to demonstrate a fierce dedication to her future.
While in our Supervised Independent Living (SIL) program, Amelia successfully completed her senior year of high school and graduated with pride. She then set her sights on higher education, enrolling at West Chester University, where she began pursuing her degree. Now finishing up her Junior year, Amelia is excelling in her studies while also maintaining part-time employment at the university’s bookstore. She also actively participates in the D-CAP program, a support initiative for students on the autism spectrum.
As she approached her 21st birthday, Amelia transitioned out of the SIL program and into her very own apartment through a county voucher program—an exciting milestone in her journey toward independence. With continued case management and housing support, she is confidently stepping into this next chapter of her life.
Amelia’s creativity, kindness, and motivation have left a lasting impact on all of us. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and grateful to have been part of her story. And though she has moved forward, she remains in touch—proof that the bonds at Valley Youth House extend far beyond our programs.
